What is Fantasy Football |
|
Fantasy Football is a game that makes you the owner of your own professional football team. You draft actual NFL players who score points for your team every time they play a real NFL game, so every touchdown, field goal and even yards gained by a player in an NFL game nets your fantasy football team points.
A fantasy football league usually involves around 10 - 12 players, often friends, work colleagues or neighbors who get together to stage their annual fantasy football draft usually a couple of weeks before the regular NFL football season kicks off. Some fantasy football leagues are purely for fun and have no monetary value; others have an entrance fee, which then allows the league to pay prizes to the winners at the end of the fantasy football season. Some also offer trophies for the champion and runner up.
Fantasy football has come a long way since its birth in the 1960's (See our Q/A section for information regarding the origins of fantasy football).
Today there are web sites like this one that offer leagues, cheat sheets, rankings, expert advice, draft analysis, injury reports, player updates and more. The Fan Base offers all of these services for free!
There are estimated to be approximately 15+ million Fantasy Football players and the number grows every year.
It’s a great deal of fun and gives you something to cheer for every weekend during the regular season games.
So whether you’re a fantasy football expert or just getting started we hope you'll make the Fan Base a part of your fantasy football season.
Be warned, it’s very addictive
